Exhibition "Mário Cesariny: In every street I find you"
Mário Cesariny was a pivotal figure in the surrealist intervention in Portugal from the very beginning.
His experimentation and departure from more academic practices gave his work a very special existence, worthy of distinction among his peers.
To stand before the works of Mário Cesariny is to come into contact with his creative will, his thought, his curiosity and, above all, his exaltation of life:
‘so much so close so real’.
Here we can see a small part of the immense cultural heritage he left us.
Everything reflects his readings, his way of being and living, his unique way of creating in an attitude of contemplation and poetic expression.
We find cobblestones, works of art, photographs, cats and more cats, and everything he stuck on the walls of his house.
A pelmet takes us to his window, imaginary for us. Fragments of his existence that will live with us throughout this year in which we celebrate the centenary of his birth.
If we want to sum up Mário Cesariny, we can say that he was above all a poet of love, of amour fou, desired, lived or barely lived, abandoned or betrayed, sung Olympically or remembered and recreated elegiacally.
Mário Cesariny sailed on the ship of mirrors on 26 November 2006.
