International Festival of Portuguese Polyphony

Cities like Amarante (Church of Saint Gonzalo), Braga (Basilica of the Good Jesus, Church of Saint Victor, Cathedral of Saint Mary – See, Church of the Monastery of Tibães), Barcelos (Benedictine Church of Our Lady of the Rosary), Coimbra (Church of Santa Cruz), Porto (Church of Saint Francis and Church of Saint Lawrence – Grilos), Vila do Conde (Main Church), Vila Nova de Famalicão (Church of the Landim Monastery), Ponte de Lima (Church of Mercy), Guimarães (Church of Our Lady of the Olive Tree), Santo Tirso (Church of the Monastery of Saint Benedict), Santiago de Compostela (San Martín Pinario), Viana do Castelo (Church of Saint Dominic) have all hosted the Festival, which has been attended by around 12,000 people.
This year, the cities of Aveiro (Church of Carmelitas), Braga (The Sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte), Coimbra (St Michael's Chapel, University of Coimbra), Alcobaça (Monastery of Santa Maria de Coz), Mirandela (Church of Misericórdia de Mirandela), Vila Nova de Famalicão (Church of the Landim Monastery), Amarante (Church of Saint Gonzalo) e Porto (Church of Saint Lawrence – Grilos) are once again hosting the Festival.
Concerts, guided tours and seminars are part of a full programme whose purpose is to promote national culture.
Each edition of the Festival is accompanied by a bilingual book, published in Portuguese and English, that bears witness to each Festival and has become a reference for scholars who are interested in Portuguese polyphonic music and Baroque architecture.

The seminary "The Baroque and the Polyphony in Portugal" will take place on July 9, at 2pm, in the Chapel of the Department of Architecture of the University of Coimbra (Colégio Das Artes).
Participation at the event is free of charge, but registration is compulsory.
